Country Club Estates, owned by Eric Anderson, his mother Irene Anderson, and his sister Sonja Kever, is Estherville's newest subdivision.
In the 1970's Eric's father, William O. Anderson, and his law partner envisioned this subdivision. Then the farm crisis came. In such a harsh financial climate, very few were building houses; so the idea was dropped.
Five years ago Eric, along with his mother and sister, began to resurrect the plan.
After the long process of obtaining the city's permission for annexation, lots were laid out and roads were paved. There are 48 lots in all. Bare, wooded, high and low lots are available.
Each lot is well designed and complete. There are no overhead lines. Sewer, water and all utilities, including natural gas, have been brought in underground to each lot, eliminating the need for additional digging.
Country Club Estates subdivision features a playground for families to enjoy, abundant wildlife, and a large pond for fishing. Also, there will soon be a cart trail from the subdivision to the present golf course. The developers hope one day to add another 9-hole golf course which, incorporated with the existing one, will create an 18-hole course.
The location of Country Club Estates is fantastic! Set on the west side of Estherville just 12 miles from Spirit Lake, the location is ideal for people who are employed in Milford, Jackson or Spirit Lake, and who want their children to go to Estherville Lincoln Central Schools. From Country Club Estates, it's just a short bike ride to Fort Defiance State Park and about a mile to the city swimming pool, tennis courts and excellent downtown shopping.
